Mud-gas Separator/ Vacuum Degasser
A vacuum degasser is a device used in drilling to remove gasses such as methane, H2S and CO2 from drilling fluid which could otherwise form bubbles. This type of degasser processes mud by accelerating fluid through a submerged pump impeller and impinging the fluid on a stationary baffles to maximize surface and thus enable escaping gas vent to atmosphere.
Vacuum degasser can play a major role of returning mud gravity, stabilizing mud viscosity and reducing drilling cost. Therefore, it works as one type mud cleaning equipment. As it is placed after the shale shaker, it is also called the second stage mud cleaning equipment in mud recycling system. At the same time a vacuum degasser can be used as a heavy-power agitator. The vacuum degasser has self-suction function, so it doesn’t need the extra transfer pump to feed the mud. After the impurities being removed, the working efficiency of subsequent centrifugal pump for desander and desilter would be greatly increased.
